Amidst the days-long, ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, the prediction of Uddhav Thackeray giving resignation as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, turned-out-to be true in the end.
The Shiv Sena Chief resigned from his post of CM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 after the apex court of the county ruled that he must prove that his government still has a majority. Thackeray in an online address announced that he is resigning as the CM of the state and after that left for the Governor’s residence to hand over his resignation.
All these political crises started on June 21, 2022, when senior Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde launched a revolt against Uddhav over many differences and accused him of going away from the Hindutva ideology of Shiv Sena founder Bala Saheb Thackeray.
He along with several other MLAs of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition moved to BJP led Gujarat, throwing the coalition in crisis. Uddhav in the end, left with only 15 MLAs and couldn’t prove majority which ultimately resulted in him resigning from the CM’s post.
Earlier, it was predicted that if he resigns, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will replace him but now Fadnavis will stay out of the government and ensure it runs smoothly. Shinde will take oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra today, on June 30 at 07:30 pm.
